About Dr. Elias
Dr. Husam Elias chose surgery of the face because it sits at the natural intersection of function and aesthetics. With dual medical and dental degrees, he spent the first chapter of his career reconstructing the facial skeleton at the highest level, serving as Section Head of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was part of the team behind the first U.S. civilian face transplant. That structural mastery is the foundation of his cosmetic work today: he understands the face from the bone outward, which is why his results look natural rather than done. After building his Southern California practice from 2013, he expanded into cosmetic surgery in 2018 and launched Cosmetic Doc.
His philosophy is summed up in three words: care, compassion, and artistry. From the moment you walk in, Dr. Elias and his team listen intently, explain every step, and tailor comfort options, including IV sedation and general anesthesia in an AAAHC-accredited surgery center, so you always feel in control. Training & credentials
Education & Residency
Dr. Elias earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Khartoum, followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He then completed his Doctor of Medicine and his surgical residency at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, serving as chief resident before joining the Cleveland Clinic as Section Head of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, where he was part of the team behind the first U.S. civilian face transplant and served as a team surgeon for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dr. Elias is board certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Outside of surgery, Dr. Elias is grounded by his family. His wife, son, and stepdaughter inspire him daily. He is a self-professed politics junkie with a passion for geopolitics, an enthusiastic (if admittedly unpolished) golfer, and a devoted tech nerd who is always exploring the latest digital surgical workflows and cutting-edge gadgets.
